Bunny Ears Cactus (Opuntia microdasys) – Polka Dot Cactus
Bunny Ears Cactus (Opuntia microdasys) is a charming and instantly recognisable cactus known for its paired pad-shaped stems that resemble rabbit ears. Covered in soft-looking golden dots, it adds playful character to UK homes and cactus collections.
Compact, sculptural, and easy to care for, this cactus is perfect for bright indoor spaces.
Why Choose Bunny Ears Cactus?
- Distinctive “bunny ear” pad shape
- Decorative golden polka dots
- Compact and space-saving
- Drought-tolerant and very low maintenance
- Ideal for bright windowsills and sunny spots
- A fun and unique gift idea
Light Requirements
Bright light is essential. Place in a sunny window with several hours of light daily. South-facing windows are ideal in UK homes.
Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly and reduce significantly in winter. Ensure excellent drainage — overwatering is the most common issue.
Important Note
Although the cactus appears soft, the tiny glochids can irritate skin. Handle carefully and keep away from pets and young children.
