Monstera Obliqua

Monstera Obliqua (Leichtlinii) is an exceptionally rare and delicate species known for its ultra-thin, lace-like leaves with large, irregular perforations. The foliage appears almost translucent, giving the plant an airy, ethereal quality. Its intricate structure and elegant form make it a true collector’s specimen and a stunning centrepiece in curated plant collections.

Care Instructions:

  • Light Conditions☀️
Monstera Obliqua thrives in bright, indirect light. Placing it near a window, but out of the direct path of the sun, is perfect.
Rotate the plant regularly to ensure all sides receive equal light and prevent it from leaning towards the light source.
  • Watering💧
Allow the top inch of soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
Monsteras are sensitive to overwatering, which can lead to root rot.
Water less frequently during the cooler winter months when the plant's growth slows.
Allow any excess water to drain away.
  • Humidity💦
Monsteras appreciate higher humidity levels, mimicking its tropical habitat.
If you need to increase your humidity levels you can use a humidifier or you could consider regularly misting your plant if the indoor air is dry.
You can also place your plant on a tray of pebbles and water to increase the humidity levels.
  • Temperature🌡️
Monstera prefers warm temperatures, ideally between 18-27°C
Avoid cold draughts, air conditioners or heaters as this plant is sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
  • Fertilising🌱
Feed monthly during the spring and summer (March to September) with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength.
Reduce or stop fertilising during the winter months when growth slows.
  • Additional Care➕
Only prune to remove dead, yellowing, or damaged leaves.
Repot only when the plant is rootbound, typically every 1–2 years.
Repotting is best done in the spring.
