Care Instructions:

  • Light Conditions☀️
Tradescantia thrives in bright, indirect sunlight.
Direct sun, especially in the height of summer, can burn the leaves.
Tradescantia can tolerate lower light, but growth may be slower and the colours may be less vibrant.
You may want to rotate your plant to ensure all sides receive even light exposure
  • Watering💧
Water when the top few centimetres of the soil feel dry to the touch.
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Water deeply until water drains from the bottom of the pot.
Allow any excess water to drain away.
  • Humidity💦
Tradescantia is generally happy in average household humidity, but it can appreciate slightly higher humidity.
To increase your humidity levels you can use a humidifier or you could consider regularly misting your plant if the indoor air is dry.
You can also place your plant on a tray of pebbles and water to increase the humidity levels.
  • Temperature🌡️
Tradescantia prefers warm, consistent temperatures, ideally between 18-24°C.
Ensure temperatures don't drop below 10-13°C for prolonged periods.
Avoid cold draughts, air conditioners or heaters as this plant is sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
  • Fertilising🌱
Feed monthly during the spring and summer (growing season) with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
  • Additional Care➕
Prune to maintain the desired shape and size, and to encourage new, bushier growth.
Remove any dead, yellowing, or damaged leaves with clean, sharp tools.
Repot every year, or when the plant becomes pot-bound, preferably in spring.
